Sree Kanteerava Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Bangalore, India. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 30,000 people. It also includes two outdoor basketball courts and one indoor court where several international matches have been played. The campus consists of Taekwondo, rock climbing, a running track, a football field and a volleyball court. It is Bangalore's main sports stadium and several national level teams hold their training sessions here. Years ago, Sree Kanteerava Stadium was a lake. The Sree Kanteerva athletic track was developed into a pro synthetic track for 1996 national games; it was a cinder track before. The athletic track will soon be undergoing renovation. The veneration of corpse of the great Kannada actor Rajkumar also took place at this venue with massive crowds coming in.
According to the Sports and Youth Services department, Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, built at a cost of Rs 16.5 crore with a seating capacity of 4,000, hosted only 29 championships last year. For 180 days, the stadium was booked for consumer and industrial exhibitions, film award functions, religious meets and a few birthday celebrations of politicians.
Zak Architech Expo is an International Exhibition on Architectural Products, Technology, Systems and Services for the Architects from all over India. Zak Architech Expo will be held at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium from 19 to 22 June 2008.
