The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was first constructed to host the 9th Asian Games in 1982 (India had also hosted the first Games in 1951, also in New Delhi). The stadium will also host the upcoming 2010 Commonwealth Games. In preparation for the Games, the stadium is undergoing a refurbishment that will reduce the capacity to 75,000 spectators [2]. It will be completed in early 2010.

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is an internationally renowned multi-sports stadium situated in New Delhi, Delhi. Built in 1982, the stadium has a seating capacity of more than 78,000 people.

It is due to host the commonwealth games in 2010. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium also houses the office of the headquarters of the Indian Olympics Committee. It was also the host to the ninth India Asian Games. Apart from these, the stadium was also the host to the ODI matches played between India and Australia and South Africa respectively.
