How to reach

Mysore is 140 km from Bangalore. Melkote can be reached by road either from Srirangapatnam via Pandavapura, a distance of 30 km, or from Mysore. This place can be reached by road via Kollegal, Yelandur or Chamarajnagar.

Road

Bus services by Karnataka Road Transport Corporation and transport corporations of the neighboring states as well as private operators make it easy to reach the city from Bangalore (139 km), Mangalore (248 km), Cannanore (148 km), Ooty (160km), and Coorg (120 km).

Mysore has a good network of road ways that connect the city to most areas of South India. SH17 from Bangalore is the most commonly used route. The Karnataka Bus Transportation Department also provides services from Bangalore with non-stop buses leaving every half an hour and it taking about 3 hours to reach.

From the central bus-stand there are several services each day to Mangalore, Ootacamund (5 hrs), Sravana Belgola (3 hrs), and Ernakulam, one to Panaji (overnight).

From Bangalore, there are buses to Mysore every half an hour from the Central Bus Stand and take about 3 hours to reach. State Highways connect Mysore to the National Highways and to the rest of the country. All KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) buses arrive and depart from the Central bus stand and there are direct bus services from Mysore to all major cities in the state.
